Sabeel Kairos Conference 2020 | You cannot serve God and the occupation
UPDATE – 22 May 2020
We have made the difficult but important decision to change our 2020 conference and AGM from a face-to-face event to an online one.
Given that social distancing is likely to have to continue for some time and the situation in September is an unknown, we do not want to put our members at unnecessary risk by holding a large gathering. It is also likely that international travel will still be affected, making it difficult for us to bring a Palestinian speaker to the UK, something we feel is a very important part of our yearly event.
However, despite not being able to meet in person, we do have a fantastic event lined up for our members! Our online conference will take place on the same day – Saturday 19th September, from 10 am-12 noon.
We are delighted that we will be joined by speakers from our two key partners in Palestine – Rev Dr Munther Isaac from Kairos Palestine, and Omar Haramy from Sabeel Jerusalem. These two fantastic speakers will cover the key themes of the conference; ‘You cannot serve God and the occupation’ and ‘Antisemitism, Israel and Palestine.’ There will be chance to ask your questions in an interactive Q+A on both topics.
In addition to this we will be led in worship by Amos Trust founder Garth Hewitt, and there will be chance to take an online campaigning action together.
We are still planning to go ahead and hold our AGM on Saturday 19th September, following the online conference. Members who have paid their fees for 2019-2020 will be invited to attend the virtual AGM following a short break at the end of the conference. The AGM will last no longer than 30 minutes and will contain all of the essentials reports and business that needs to be done. If you have any queries about the AGM please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
