David Cronin takes a long view
Our first speaker was David Cronin, a journalist and political activist living in Brussels. David gave us an insightful and historical long view of Britain’s detrimental involvement in Palestine and the middle East. Starting with the 1917 Balfour Agreement, David led us right up to the last few decades where we have seen more and more how Britain’s policies on the middle East have become shaped by the US. We were reminded that as well as selling arms to Israel, Britain has attracted considerable investment from Israel’s war industry. David encouraged us to continue in BDS work and that the call to boycott Israel has been made by Palestinians who have experienced decades of apartheid and occupation.
