Thanks to you, our members and supporters, we have been able to raise a record amount of money for this year’s Christmas Appeal! Once the Gift Aid was added to all your donations, we raised a total of £20,540. THANK YOU for making a difference to Palestinian children and families this year. It was such a privilege to raise this money together with all of you!
Because of your generosity the East Jerusalem YMCA were able to run a Christmas Activity Day for 400 displaced children from Jenin who are living in temporary accommodation in Zababdeh. The Activity Day Christmas Appeal Campaign successfully addressed the psychosocial needs, particularly the need for children to release stress, overcome fear, and reconnect with feelings of safety, joy, and normal childhood. This impact was clearly reflected in feedback received from caregivers and community members.
One parent shared that the children came back full of happiness and excitement, while another expressed gratitude that the activity helped ease their children’s emotional burden and brought moments of relief and positivity.
Because we raised well over our original match funded target of £11,200, this means that we were also able to fund food and energy grants for around 94 Palestinian families, identified through local clergy by Sabeel Jerusalem. This will be a lifeline for many in the very difficult economic situation caused by the Israeli occupation.
