UK groups say UK government’s public position on weapons licences to Israel is at odds with what the government has admitted in litigation, and calls for an explanation.
Sabeel-Kairos joins 7 other NGOs including War on Want, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International to question the Government’s response to our letter on the sales and transfer of weapons licences to Israel.
We are deeply concerned by the UK government’s refusal to halt arms transfers to Israel – despite the clear risk that these arms are being used by Israel in its plausible genocide of the Palestinian people. We wrote to the UK government in December urging them to stop arming Israel. They have ignored our calls, evaded questions from MPs, and in that time at at least 12,000 more people have died in Gaza.
Our second letter to the UK government on this is below, and was covered in Middle East Eye on 28th February – see here: UK’s public position on Israel arms exports ‘at odds’ with internal reviews | Middle East Eye
Here is the joint letter. We encourage all of our supporters to write to their MP and raise this issue with them urgently.
